I am so glad that you have taken the time to visit A Teacher Next Door. It is my desire that each time you visit the site you will walk away with a thought, an idea, a story, or a resource that encourages and empowers.

The idea for A Teacher Next Door started to percolate when I was working for an Ohio public online charter school. I was a K - 3 teacher serving students and their parents. My role was to walk along side the parents who functioned as the day to day teachers, delivering the support necessary for each family's success. I thoroughly enjoyed my job. It was as comfortable as a perfectly fitted pair of jeans. However, as my life circumstances changed and the job description evolved I began to dream of serving families independently.

So here I am. It has taken me a half dozen years and a once perfectly fitted pair of jeans ripping out at the seams to convince me that now is the time to make the dream a reality. I am more than excited to see what the future holds as "A Teacher Next Door."
